Everything you need to get the most out of kalCam.

Getting Started

  1. Download kalCam from the App Store or Google Play.
  2. On first launch, tap Continue as Guest to try it out, or sign in with Apple / Google to sync across devices.
  3. Guest mode keeps all your food data on-device. You can sign in later without losing anything.

Snap a Meal

  1. Tap the camera button on the Home tab to capture your meal.
  2. Make sure the entire plate or dish is visible for the best results.
  3. kalCam works with home-cooked meals, restaurant dishes, packaged foods, and snacks.

Understanding Results

  1. After a snap, you see total calories, protein, carbs, and fat instantly.
  2. The health score (1-10) rates your meal based on nutritional balance.
  3. Scroll down for a detailed ingredient breakdown with individual calorie counts.

Portion Adjustment

  1. After scanning, use the portion slider to adjust from 0.25x to 4x.
  2. All nutrition values update in real-time as you change the portion size.
  3. Great for when you only eat half a portion or go back for seconds.

Your Food Diary

  1. Open the Diary tab to see your food timeline with photos.
  2. Each entry shows the meal type, calories, macros, and a photo.
  3. Swipe between days or tap the calendar icon to jump to a specific date.

Daily Targets

  1. Go to the Me tab and tap Daily Targets to set your calorie and macro goals.
  2. The home screen shows your progress toward daily targets as you log meals.
  3. Targets help you stay on track whether you are cutting, maintaining, or bulking.

Insights Dashboard

  1. Open the Insights tab to see weekly and monthly nutrition charts.
  2. Track your nutrition score trend, calorie averages, and consistency streaks.
  3. Plus+ subscribers can view extended insights from 14 to 120 days.

Apple Health

  1. Go to the Me tab and enable Apple Health integration.
  2. kalCam syncs your daily nutrition data to Apple Health automatically.
  3. This keeps all your health apps in sync with your food intake.

Sharing

  1. Tap the share button on any meal card to share it.
  2. Share your meals to Instagram Stories, Messages, or any other app.
  3. The shared card includes the photo, calories, and macro breakdown.

Plus+ Subscription

  1. Plus+ unlocks unlimited AI captures, full diary history, extended insights, micronutrient tracking, best day highlights, and daily nutrition averages.
  2. Subscribe from the Me tab. Monthly and annual plans are available.
  3. To restore a previous purchase on a new device, go to Me and tap Restore Purchases.
